After today’s session, we are significantly closer to the end of the contract.
Agreements:
- USofCC and the College came to an agreement regarding Part-time Sick Leave. The new policy will be 6 days of sick time front-loaded, and 6 days of carry over.
- USofCC is happy to move forward with the College’s proposal of giving the union notice of layoffs. The language states that the College will give the union notice “prior to” the layoffs, but will additionally provide transition plans to the Union describing how work will be reassigned or redistributed to remaining unit members within 3 days after a layoff of a Unit member.
- The College forwarded a counter proposal regarding Grievance Procedure and Vacation Time that moved significantly toward the Union, and so both sides agreed to move forward with the language proposed.
Other notable events:
- USofCC will let go of the successor clause.
- The College presented a new salary counter last night. Though USofCC is happy that they are making movement toward us, we still would like to have salary increases above 5% both years of the contract in order to consider applying the salary floor before the increases.
- USofCC needs time to review the College’s counter regarding Performance Improvement, but are happy with the changes.
- We discussed AI protections, but are still working toward each other in this respect.
