USofCC November update

1) Bargaining Update

As you know, USofCC and the college agreed to not increase health benefits costs to employees in 2015. As we continue to negotiate the next contract, we are still collecting letters to send to President Kim to demonstrate our members’ concerns about salaries, benefits and working conditions. All of your letters make a difference. The letters we have received so far make a powerful statement. Add your voice today. Fill in the attached PDF and send it to usofcc@yahoo.com.

2) Open House Work Schedules

USofCC has received a lot of questions about work schedules and Open House this Saturday. Here are some answers about how your schedule can be shifted and how you should enter the hours in the Time and Labor System.

  • If you are working Open House in addition to your regular schedule this week AND your regular schedule next week:
    • You MUST enter all your hours worked into the Time and Labor System.
      • If you are told by your supervisor not to enter the hours or if your hours are pushed back or denied, contact Pat Rios immediately at  prios@colum.edu, and copy Cat Bromels at cbromels@colum.edu.
  • If you are working Open House in addition to your regular schedule this week but are being asked to take time off next week:
    • You MUST enter the hours as they were worked into the Time and Labor System.
      • If you are told by your supervisor not to enter the hours or if your hours are pushed back or denied, contact Pat Rios immediately at prios@colum.edu, and copy Cat Bromels at cbromels@colum.edu.
    • If you work over 40 hours this week, and under 40 hours next week this may change the amount of your pay and how you are paid.
  • If you are working Open House and have been asked to take time off earlier this week:
    • You MUST enter the hours as they were worked into the Time and Labor System.
    • Please let Cat know how your schedule was shifted. We are compiling data concerning this issue: cbromels@colum.edu.

If you have any questions, contact Cat at cbromels@colum.edu.

3) Open Enrollment Extended through Monday November 17

The college has changed the length of time for open enrollment and its system. Now ALL EMPLOYEES must confirm coverage in the new system, ebenefits, or risk loss of health coverage as of January 1, 2015. Even if you are not changing anything, you must still confirm your coverage. The deadline for doing this is Monday November 17.

Instructions are on the college’s Open Enrollment Website. Ebenefits is accessed through Time and Labor system where you report your hours (go to Main Menu, then Self Service, then Benefits, then Benefits Enrollment.)

Make sure that the system shows the discounted premium if you got the health screening by October 31. If you get an email from HR saying that you are enrolled in the non-discounted, higher premium PPO medical plan, contact them right away.

As always – if you have any questions or concerns, let us know at USofCC@yahoo.com. And check out our website www.usofcc.org.
