USofCC Update September 2014

1) ELECTION RESULTS

Thanks to everyone who voted in the elections on August 20 and 21 to vote on USofCC officers. Special thanks to Joan McGrath and Sheila Brady for chairing the election committee, and thanks to Paula Epstein, Joanne Harding and Janet Harper for volunteering at the polls. The results are as follows:

2) IEA HIGHER EDUCATION CONFERENCE

The annual IEA Higher Education Conference is taking place on October 10-11. This statewide meeting of IEA leaders, members and staff is an important opportunity to enhance skills and communication within our organization. This event will provide knowledge and opportunity to learn about all the latest higher education news and trends.

Date/Time: Friday October 10, 2014 (evening only) & Saturday October 11, 2014 (8am-4:30pm)

Location: Sheraton Suites, 121 Northwest Point Blvd, Elk Grove Village, IL (free parking)

Registration Fee: $25

3) BIOMETRIC SCREENINGS by FRIDAY OCTOBER 31

Remember to get biometric screenings for yourself and spouse/domestic partner by FRIDAY OCTOBER 31 at the Care ATC Clinic in order to get the discounted 2015 PPO health premium. Sign up early for your slot – don’t wait till the last minute!

4) HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

Have you noticed any changes in your health insurance coverage? We want to know. The Bargaining Committee is negotiating changes in health insurance premiums and plans for the next contract and we’d like to know what your experience has been this past year. Please contact Cat Bromels at cbromels@colum.edu. Please be mindful of what you share via work email.

 

5) HIGHLIGHTING STAFF CONTRIBUTIONS

WHAT DO YOU DO?  We are still looking for more examples of what you do in your job for students and Columbia to add to our poster on ‘The Hidden Work of Staff!” Send a few to Sheila at sbrady@colum.edu. Thanks.
