Susan Strong-Dowd’s relationship with, and contribution to, the Columbia College Community goes back to 1973 when she enrolled at Columbia as an undergraduate – back when the college’s main building was at 550 Lake Shore Drive. She earned her BA in Theater in 1977, began teaching part time at the college in 1985 (perhaps best known for teaching Games for Writers in the Fiction Department), started working part time with Upward Bound in 1992, earned her MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia in 1997 and finally took a full-time position as the Upward Bound Program’s Recruitment Coordinator in the fall of 2000. Come join us as we celebrate Susan’s contribution to Columbia College and wish her the best upon the occasion of her retirement, which she began this past August 31st.
