Dear Provost Love, Chairman of the Board and Members of the Board of Trustees,
We are writing this email as the leadership of the United Staff of Columbia College. We have been informed that Columbia College is holding a disciplinary meeting against the president of P-Fac, Diana Vallera, on Friday, August 17, 2012. USofCC would like to express its deep concern over the charges against Ms. Vallera, especially given her strong role as a union advocate, and her involvement in filing complaints with the labor board just prior to the general counsel’s complaint against her.
The administration and the locals need to establish a more collaborative culture based on true transparency and mutual respect. We could solve the majority of our disagreements if we can find a way to work together.
The administration should give serious consideration to not pursuing disciplinary action against President Vallera. USofCC supports good relations and hopes this alleged conflict can be resolved. Establishing a better relationship with the locals will enhance the image of Columbia College and show potential students and their parents that we are truly One Columbia.
